Biography
Zayd was a gifted young Ansari who wrote down revelation for the Prophet ﷺ and learned other languages at his request.
Abu Bakr chose him to collect the Quran into one compilation after many reciters fell at al-Yamamah, and he led the committee that produced the standard copies under ʿUthman. He was an authority in inheritance law and died around 45 AH.

Abu Bakr chose him to collect the Quran; he said moving a mountain would have been easier for him.
Sahih al-Bukhari 4986The Prophet ﷺ described him as the most knowledgeable of the nation in the shares of inheritance.
