    The first adult man to accept Islam, the Prophet’s ﷺ companion in the Cave of Thawr, father of ʿAʾishah and the first caliph.

    Once a fierce opponent, his conversion strengthened the Muslims in Makkah. Father of Hafsah and the second caliph, known as al-Faruq.

    The first to believe in him and his only wife for about twenty-five years. Mother of all his children except Ibrahim. She died in the Year of Sorrow.
