Hud called the people of ʿAd, known for their strength and tall buildings, to worship Allah alone and to seek His forgiveness. They replied that they would not abandon their gods because of his words and asked who could be stronger than them.
They rejected him and saw a cloud approaching, thinking it would bring rain; it was a furious wind that destroyed them over seven nights and eight days (69:6–7). Allah saved Hud and those who believed with him.
