Angels told Maryam that Allah had chosen her and purified her above the women of the worlds (3:42). An angel then gave her the glad tidings of a son, though no man had touched her; Allah said, "It is easy for Me" (19:20–21). ʿIsa's creation is like Adam's — Allah said "Be", and he was (3:59).
In the pains of birth Maryam took shelter by a palm tree and was told to eat its dates and drink from a stream beneath her. When she returned with the baby and her people accused her, the infant ʿIsa spoke from the cradle: "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet" (19:30).
Allah gave him the Injil and miracles by His permission: shaping a bird from clay that became a bird, healing the blind and the leper, and bringing the dead to life (5:110). He confirmed the Tawrah and gave glad tidings of a messenger after him named Ahmad (61:6).
The Quran states that they did not kill him nor crucify him, but it was made to appear so to them; rather, Allah raised him to Himself (4:157–158). On the Day of Judgement he will testify that he only ever told people to worship Allah, his Lord and theirs (5:116–117).
