The Black Stone

Makkah
الحجر الأسود

Set in the eastern corner of the Kaʿbah, where each circuit of tawaf begins and ends. Pilgrims kiss it, touch it, or point to it from a distance.

Significance

The Prophet ﷺ placed it with his own hands when Quraysh rebuilt the Kaʿbah before his prophethood. ʿUmar kissed it, saying he did so only because he had seen the Prophet ﷺ do it.
