Site of the Battle of the Trench

Madinah
موقع غزوة الخندق (المساجد السبعة)

The area near Mount Salʿ in north-west Madinah, today known as the Seven Mosques, where the Muslims dug a trench to defend the city.

Significance

In 5 AH the allied tribes besieged Madinah; the trench, suggested by Salman al-Farisi, held them back until a storm broke the siege. Surah al-Ahzab describes it.
