Biography
ʿAmr was a shrewd diplomat of Quraysh who was sent to bring back the emigrants from Abyssinia. He accepted Islam in 8 AH.
He led the conquest of Egypt under ʿUmar and governed it. He died there in 43 AH.
Virtues
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The people submitted, and ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAs believed.”
