Biography
Al-Hasan, the elder son of ʿAli and Fatimah, was dearly loved by the Prophet ﷺ, who carried him and prayed for him. He was known for gentleness, generosity and wisdom.
After his father’s death he gave up the caliphate to Muʿawiyah to end fighting between Muslims, fulfilling the Prophet’s ﷺ words about him. He died in Madinah around 49 AH.
