Biography
Ibn Masʿud was a young shepherd when he accepted Islam, and was among the first to recite the Quran aloud at the Kaʿbah, for which he was beaten. He served the Prophet ﷺ closely.
He learned over seventy surahs directly from the Prophet ﷺ, and ʿUmar later sent him to teach the people of Kufah. He died in Madinah around 32 AH.
