Biography
Muʿadh accepted Islam as a youth in Madinah and became a great scholar of the Quran and law. The Prophet ﷺ loved him and sent him to Yemen as a teacher and judge.
He died in the plague of ʿAmwas in Syria in 18 AH, in his thirties.
Virtues
One of the four the Prophet ﷺ told the Muslims to learn the Quran from.
Sahih al-Bukhari 3758The Prophet ﷺ described him as the most knowledgeable of the nation about the lawful and the unlawful.
Jamiʿ at-Tirmidhi 3790The Prophet ﷺ sent him to Yemen to invite people to Islam, teaching him to begin with tawhid, then prayer, then zakat.
