Biography
Jaʿfar, the brother of ʿAli, led the Muslim emigrants to Abyssinia and spoke for them before the Negus, reciting from Surah Maryam until the king wept and protected them.
He returned during Khaybar and was martyred leading the army at Muʾtah in 8 AH.
Virtues
The Prophet ﷺ told him: “You resemble me in appearance and character.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 2699Ibn ʿUmar would greet his son as “son of the one with two wings”, for Allah gave Jaʿfar two wings in Paradise for the arms he lost.
