Biography
Khadijah was a respected and wealthy businesswoman of Makkah who employed the young Muhammad ﷺ in trade and then proposed marriage to him, impressed by his honesty. She was his only wife for about twenty-five years and the mother of all his children except Ibrahim.
When the first revelation came in Cave Hira and he returned trembling, she comforted him: Allah would never disgrace him, for he kept family ties, helped the weak and supported the truth. She took him to her cousin Waraqah and was the first to believe.
She gave her wealth and strength to Islam through the years of persecution and the boycott, and died around three years before the Hijrah, in the Year of Sorrow. The Prophet ﷺ remembered her with love all his life.
Virtues
Jibril brought her greetings of peace from her Lord and the good news of a house of hollow pearl in Paradise.
