Biography
Saʿid was the son of Zayd ibn ʿAmr, who rejected idol worship before Islam. He and his wife Fatimah, ʿUmar’s sister, were Muslims when ʿUmar came to their house in anger — the visit that led to ʿUmar’s acceptance of Islam.
He took part in the battles after Badr and in the conquest of Syria, and lived a simple life until his death around 51 AH.
