Dawud (David)

No. 17
داود عليه السلامA prophet-king of the Children of Israel

As a young man in Talut's army, Dawud killed Jalut (Goliath), and Allah gave him kingship and wisdom (2:251). He was given the Zabur (Psalms), and the mountains and birds glorified Allah with him; Allah softened iron for him to make coats of armour (34:10–11).

The Quran praises him as one who often turned back to Allah, and tells of the two disputants who came over the wall of his prayer chamber, after which he sought forgiveness and Allah told him to judge between people with truth (38:17–26).
