Shuʿayb called the people of Madyan to worship Allah alone and to give full measure and weight, since they cheated in trade and blocked people from the way of Allah.
They mocked him, asking whether his prayer commanded them to leave their forefathers' gods or to do as they pleased with their wealth. They threatened to stone him. The punishment seized them and they lay lifeless in their homes, while Shuʿayb and the believers were saved.
