Ayyub was tested with severe illness and the loss of his wealth and family, and he remained patient. He called on his Lord: "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful" (21:83).
Allah answered him, removed his affliction and restored his family and more besides, as a mercy and a reminder for worshippers. The Quran says: "Indeed, We found him patient — an excellent servant" (38:44).
