Biography
Usayd was a chief of the Aws who came to confront Musʿab ibn ʿUmayr, listened to the Quran and accepted Islam on the spot.
He was known for beautiful recitation and wisdom, and was one of the twelve leaders chosen at ʿAqabah. He died in 20 AH.
Virtues
While he recited al-Baqarah at night, his horse was startled; the Prophet ﷺ said those were angels who came near to listen.
