Ismaʿil grew up in the valley of Makkah, where Allah brought forth the well of Zamzam for him and his mother. The Quran praises him as true to his promise, a messenger and prophet who commanded his family to pray and give zakah (19:54–55).
He was the son who accepted his father's dream with patience, and he helped Ibrahim raise the foundations of the Kaʿbah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is among his descendants.
